Behind the scenes
From one promo to a year of live boxing
Josh started with a single assignment: a five-minute feature promo on Charles Conwell, a boxer out of Cleveland, that aired during his NBC Sports fight. The work led Ring City USA to offer him a full-time Director of Photography role for nearly a year.
That year included broadcast bumpers, fight promos, main-event fighter features, and live ringside footage — four weeks on location in Puerto Rico covering three fights, plus a week at West Point, New York, for another. Between fights, he shot and cut recaps and cinematic highlights. He worked directly with Ring City USA on every project, and all fights aired on NBC Sports.
Live sports requires technical precision and creative instinct happening at the same time. Every moment counts, and you get one take.
